Efficient buildings, the energy revolution

Silvia-Adriana Ticau, Member of the European Parliament, today opens the exhibition “Efficient buildings, the energy revolution.” The exhibition demonstrates the current state of energy-efficient architecture and building technology in Europe. All presented projects make use of renewable source of energy, generate some or all of their own energy on site and emit little or no CO2.

According to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), energy-efficient architecture in combination with the use of renewable energy sources, can help “to keeping global average temperature increases below 2 degrees Celsius.” The WWF continues to write that an “ambitious EU directive to maximise energy savings in buildings could cut 460 million tonnes of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to 9% of the EU’s annual greenhouse gas emissions.”

The exhibition runs from 21-24 April and is organised by the WWF in co-operation with Silvia-Adriana Ticau. The presented projects were designed by Sheppard Robson/Arup/CCB Evolution Ltd., Sol Energy Hellas, Florin Dobrescu/Star Dome srl., ruralZEDTM/ZEDfactory Ltd. and RAU.
